Nashville’s Economy

February 20, 2020

My Dear Reader,

For years, since 2012 to be exact, Nashville has been growing by over a hundred people a day. This is a great number, and it really speaks to the job market and strength of the construction market in the area. Real estate prices have steadily risen over the last 8 years, and this has driven people farther out of the city into Rutherford Wilson and Williamson Counties. The effect of this is the constant growth¬† throughout Nashville. but more importantly it also shows a microcosm of Taxation and economic power. The State of Tennessee has no income tax, and property taxes are relatively well comparatively to other states with no income tax, but the city of Nashville has substantial debt and Davidson County has relatively high taxes for the state. This pushed people into other counties and helped grow them when Nashville could be experiencing even greater growth. The point of this it’s so let you know that taxes have real consequences, and with the national election coming up. We would be wise to choose the candidate that best helps our pocketbooks.

To your creation and potential,

Kevin Prendiville
